specialist positions at the UC Davis Translational Cognitive and Affective
Neuroscience (TCAN) Laboratory under the direction of Dr.
Cameron Carter. Our
ideal applicants have received their B.A. or B.S. and are typically interested
in an RA position to be more competitive in pursuing a career in medicine or

below. We hope to fill these positions in the next two months and have

UC Davis TCAN
Coordinator/Clinical Position:
Broadly, the
Translational Cognitive and Affective (TCAN) Laboratory studies the neural
mechanisms of cognitive dysfunction in psychotic illness. This
position is to serve a Study Coordinator for the TCAN lab at UC Davis Medical
Center. The incumbent will coordinate many aspects of the research study. The
incumbent will use knowledge of mental health conditions to conduct phone
evaluations to determine study eligibility of potential participants. The
incumbent will also consent study participants and schedule all of their
research appointments. The incumbent will conduct clinical interviews for
research purposes under the supervision of a faculty member and will conduct
behavioral testing sessions. The incumbent will manage the study IRB
protocols, adhering strictly to privacy and confidentiality laws. The
incumbent will also manage data collection and organization, including
supervising undergraduate volunteers in the input of data to multiple
databases. Furthermore, the incumbent will be expected to actively
participate in weekly lab meetings, journal club presentations, presentations
from outside speakers, and weekly workshops to help RAs develop their career
goals. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication,
and decision-making skills; as well as the ability to work well independently
and as part of a team.
UC Davis TCAN
Technical Position:
Broadly, the
Translational Cognitive and Affective (TCAN) Laboratory studies the neural
mechanisms of cognitive dysfunction in psychotic illness. This position
is to serve as a technically-oriented research assistant at the UC Davis
Medical Center under the supervision of Dr. Cameron Carter. The incumbent will
be responsible for many aspects of data collection and analysis, and
consequently will benefit from having experience or interest in neuroimaging
and programming. The incumbent will become proficient in operating all
MRI and EEG hardware at the Imaging Research Center and will be responsible for
collecting, organizing, and analyzing neuroimaging data (including diffusion MRI,
fMRI, EEG/ERP, and PET). The incumbent will use programming expertise to
generate and maintain computer code used in organizing and analyzing behavioral
and neuroimaging data. The incumbent will manage data collection and
organization of behavioral data, including supervising undergraduate volunteers
in the input of data to multiple databases. Furthermore, the incumbent will be
expected to actively participate in weekly lab meetings, journal club
presentations, presentations from outside speakers, and weekly workshops to
help RAs develop their career goals. The ideal candidate will have strong
