College + Kelley Information Session

 

You are invited to a College + Kelley Information Session scheduled for Tuesday, March 29, 2016. College + Kelley is a 4 + 1 program designed for undergraduates to combine an undergraduate degree in the arts + sciences with a master’s degree in business.  With this program, you can complete a degree in the College, and immediately follow it up with an MS in one of several business programs.

Please REGISTER by March 21st. The information session will begin at 5:30pm and FREE dinner will be provided. Dress is business casual. The Godfrey Graduate and Executive Education Center is next to Hodge Hall on the corner of the 10th and Fee Lane, connected to the Fee Lane garage. The information session will take place on the 3rd floor. Hope to see you there!

MSSW Admissions Coordinator for the Kent School of Social Work Coming to IUB


Sarah Caragianis, MSSW Admissions Coordinator for the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville, will be representing the Kent School’s Master of Science in Social Work at the upcoming IU Health Programs fair on Monday, February 29th from 11:00am – 3:oopm at the IMU!

Careers in social work are wide ranging: from providing direct service to clients, to therapy, to creating public policy through advocacy and community organizing.  Kent School offers opportunities to specialize in:  Mental Health, School Social Work, Gerontology, Alcohol & Drug Counseling , Psychosocial Oncology, Military Social Work and Couple & Family Therapy.  Kent also offers Dual Degree program with Law School, Pan-African Studies, Women & Gender Studies, Divinity and Bioethics.  While in the program, students complete two 16 hr/week practicums at agencies of their choice to gain practice experience.

They are interested in enrolling talented, qualified U of L graduates for Fall 2016!  The Kent School of Social Work offers part time and full time programs, one campus and online, as well as weekend options. They even have an MSSW Online program with practicum placements in the Bloomington area.

Deadlines for Submission to MUCSC

MUCSC is a great opportunity for undergraduates to speak about their study of the mind research to a friendly and constructive audience with a poster presentation, 15-minute oral presentation, or a 5-minute "lightning round" presentation. Lightning rounds may be especially useful for students just beginning a project related to cognition.  

Students who are interested in presenting their research (ongoing or completed) should submit an abstract by the deadlines above. Awards are given for outstanding presentations. Registration, abstract submission, and more information about the conference can be found online at mucsc.info.

Northwestern University Psychology Opportunity


A SNEAK PEEK AT NORTHWESTERN’S PSYCHOLOGY PHD PROGRAMS

 
Northwestern University's Psychology Department is hosting a program on Friday, June 3th and Saturday, June 4th for undergraduates who are members of groups that are traditionally underrepresented in academia (including first-generation college students), and who are potentially interested in pursuing graduate study in psychology.  Activities will include a workshop designed to help with the graduate school application process and opportunities to meet psychology department faculty members and graduate students to learn what graduate school is like and how they might fit into the various psychology graduate programs (e.g., clinical, social, cognitive neuroscience, etc.). 
 
Travel and accommodation costs associated with participation will be covered, and the application process will be fast and free (applications are due by April 13th @ 5 PM CST).

Personal Statement and Professionalism Workshop

Do you plan to attend graduate school but are uncertain about how to write the personal statement or how to approach professors for letters of recommendation? Come to this workshop to learn how! Students of all majors are welcome to attend. Juniors and seniors who will soon be applying to graduate school sometime during fall 2016 or spring 2017 will find this workshop helpful. Students needing graduate school for the health professions (e.g., PT, PA) should instead attend HPPLC’s personal statement workshops.


Seating is limited, so sign up to reserve yourself a spot. Plus, if there are any last minute changes, pre-registering gives us a way to notify you.

Research Assistantships for Minority Students (RAMS) Program


The Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University is pleased to announce an exciting summer research opportunity for undergraduate students.

This program, funded by the American Psychological Association and Carnegie Mellon University, is designed to provide research opportunities to members of underrepresented groups as defined by the Institute for Education Sciences (African American, Hispanic, Native American) who may be considering pursuing further graduate study in psychology or related fields.

We encourage applications from students who would like to conduct research in the areas of Developmental Psychology and/or Health Psychology. RAMS program makes it possible for undergraduate students with little to no research experience to spend 6 weeks during the summer in a research laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University. This program supports our commitment to training a diverse set of leaders in the field of psychology and related disciplines.

Application deadline is March 7, 2016.
 

 

Preparing for a Career in Healthcare Mini-Conference

The Career Development Center is planning a new mini-conference, Preparing for a Career in Healthcare, on Tuesday, February 23 from 6-8:15PM in the IMU Tree Suites (Dogwood, Persimmon, & Sassafras). This program is designed especially for University Division students (although all students are welcome) who are considering careers anywhere in the healthcare industry.

This mini-conference has three sessions that will run concurrently at 6PM, 6:35PM, and 7:10PM, so students can come to just one or all sessions. There will be a reception from 7:45-8:15 if they want to meet the panelists. We will have free refreshments and giveaways for the students throughout the event.

2016 UCLA Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference


The 2016 UCLA Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference (PURC) will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at UCLA and will showcase approximately 100 undergraduate psychology research projects in poster and paper talk sessions.

The organization is currently looking for a diverse representation of campuses and for high-quality abstracts written by undergraduate researchers.
