2014 Fall Career and Internship Fair

Tuesday, September 16, 2014
4pm – 7pm
Alumni Hall, Indiana Memorial Union
This fair gives IU students from a variety of liberal arts majors the opportunity to connect with organizations recruiting entry-level positions and/or internships. All majors are welcome to attend. The first hour of the fair (from 3 - 4 p.m.) will provide an opportunity for student veterans, as well as students from the following Diversity Groups and Scholarship Programs at IUB to meet with prospective employers:

• The Wells Scholars Program includes 80 students from all majors who must have a GPA of a 3.4 or above.
• The Science, Technology, & Research Scholars (STARS) program includes 70 science majors who have a 3.8 GPA or above.
• The Hudson and Holland Scholars Program includes over 500 African-American and Latino students from all majors with
a GPA of 3.0 or above.
• The Liberal Arts & Management Program includes 400 students with a GPA of 3.3 or above. These students major in a discipline in the College of Arts & Sciences and take a concentration of courses from the Kelley School of Business.
• The Hutton Honors College includes 3,750 students from all majors with a GPA of 3.3 or above.
• The Cox Scholars include 150 students from all majors with a 3.0 GPA or above. Cox Scholars are selected to work on
campus in research, artistic, and community service projects.
• Phi Beta Kappa include 150 students from all majors with a GPA of 3.8 or above. Phi Beta Kappa is the highest honor that can be conferred on an undergraduate in the liberal arts and sciences.
• The Women in Science, Technology, Informatics, and Math (STIM) program is a residential learning community for 50 undergraduate women with a strong interest in STIM fields. Residents are provided with an enhanced academic experience to encourage residents to build networks within their fields and explore career and academic options in STIM fields.
• The Groups Scholars Program was designed to support first generation college students and includes over 800 underrepresented students from Indiana.
• The 21st Century Scholars Program serves almost 2,500 21st Century Scholars on the IUB campus as their primary advocacy office, providing academic support and advising, personal support, and leadership development programs to assist students toward their graduation goals. 
IU's Veteran population will also be invited to be present during this one hour window.
The fair will open to the general student population at 4 pm.

The Fall Career & Internship Fair is just around the corner – on Tuesday, September 16th – and now is the time to get ready. The Career Fair Survival Guide is a series of events to help Arts & Sciences students prepare for a successful career fair experience. The first four survival guide events are open to all Arts & Sciences students – you can come to only one session or all four! While all of these sessions will be valuable, the culminating Mock Career Fair is the most effective way to ensure your success with employers. This event, which features real employers helping you prepare for the Fall Career & Internship Fair, is only open to students who have attended at least one of the previous sessions. You can RSVP for these events using your myJobs account through the Career Development Center.

Study Abroad Opportunity for Blog



Apply to study abroad in Canterbury, England for the Spring 2015 term!
The University of Kent is situated about one hour southeast of London in the midst of a famous cathedral city and picturesque villages. You’ll be directly enrolled at the University of Kent taking courses with British and other international students and earn direct IU credit towards your major, minor and general education requirements. There are a variety of on-campus housing options and there are program-specific scholarships available.

The Local Council of Women (LCW) and Bloomington Meadows Event Announcement




The Local Council of Women (LCW) and Bloomington Meadows will collaborate in September to host a panel discussion about mental health concerns in the Bloomington community. The Local Council of Women is a group made up of male and female community leaders who offer a voice for local health concerns. Bloomington Meadows is a freestanding psychiatric facility providing a range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to the Bloomington community, as well as citizens from more than 50 other counties in central and southern Indiana.

On September 18th, 2014, 11:30a- 1:00p, the event will include lunch for attendees, a brief business meeting for the LCW, and then a panel discussion. Mark Moore, President and CEO of IU Health Bloomington Hospital, will present an update on the IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Immediately following, the LCW will award the Cecilia Wahl Scholarship-a scholarship given to local students pursuing traditional and non-traditional careers in health care.


The event will conclude with a panel discussion on mental health:
