The first annual Conference for Undergraduate Research in Psychology at IUPUC in Columbus, Indiana

Registration DEADLINE: November 1, 2017

IUPUC is hosting the first Conference for Undergraduate Research in Psychology (CURP) on November 15, 2017.  All undergraduate students in psychology are invited to submit their research proposals to present either orally or on a poster at CURP.  The purpose of this conference is to actively engage undergraduate students in research, networking, and preparing for professional careers.  Students and their faculty mentors, advisors, family, and friends are invited to attend CURP 2017. 

Presentations.  Undergraduate psychology students can present their research findings during one of the two poster sessions lasting for an hour and a half or during the hour-long oral session.  Proposals can include both completed and in-progress research.  But having a completed research project by the conference date is not required.  Instead, evaluation will be based on the quality of research idea and design.

Announcement of winners. The end of the conference will be allocated for presenting awards to top presenters. 

Graduate school workshop. This workshop will consist of sessions on the areas of how to select and apply for graduate school, how to request letters of recommendation, and what to expect in a graduate program.

 

Guidelines for Submitting Papers

Submit proposals at www.iupuc.edu/curp/ by October 1, 2017.  Following the review of all submissions, you will be informed of your acceptance status by October 15, 2017. 

 

Please include the following sections in your proposal, using the APA standard format:

1. Clearly state the central research question and/or purpose of the project. 
2. Provide brief, relevant scholarly or research context (no actual citations required) that
   demonstrate its attempt to make a unique contribution to the area of inquiry. 
3. Provide a brief description of the research methodology. 
4. State conclusions or expected results and the context in which they will be discussed. 
5. Include text only (no images or graphics)
6. Be well-written and well-organized.
7. Proposals should fully explain your presentation, and should be between 150-250 words in length.
