SPOTLIGHT ON THE INDIANA LEGISLATURE
Monday, September 28, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Woodburn Hall Auditorium

Representatives Peggy Welch (Democrat, District 60) and Edward Clere (Republican, District 72) will discuss their career paths and what it's like to be an Indiana legislator, both when the Legislature is in session and when they are out of session. They will discuss how they got started in politics, balancing dual careers, campaigning, and the rewards and challenges of being a Representative. The discussion will be focused on career information, not political issues.

The following internship coordinators will discuss internship opportunities and the internship application process for the 2010 legislative session:

STUDENT CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION (SCA) INFORMATION SESSION Tuesday, September 29, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

SCA, the Student Conservation Association, is the nation's oldest and largest provider of conservation internships. SCA offers over 2000 expense paid opportunities each year. Internships last from 12 weeks to
12 months, start at all times throughout the year, and are found all across the country.

Interns have the opportunity to work with such agencies at the National Park Service, National Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affair, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Army Corps of Engineers, and other state and local agencies.

Interns do not need to be in school or be a certain major; all majors and skill sets are eligible to apply.

Internships are found in a wide variety of fields, including:

Learn from professionals working in the TV industry!

Presented by the Educational Foundation of NATPE (the National Association of Television Program Executives), the goal of this workshop is to inform students of the many careers in the communications fields, and to prepare and guide them through the process of working in the industry.

Career Workshop includes:

* A panel discussion with staff and management from local TV stations telling how they got started and what it's like to work in this exciting business
* Special emphasis on internships, resumes, interviewing, networking and career strategies
* A mock job interview
* Q&A session
* Face-to-face interaction with the panelists

The diverse panel is set with veterans and recent graduates performing key TV station functions. All major Indianapolis stations, plus one from West Lafayette, are represented.
