Full-Time RA Position in Anxiety Clinical Psychology Lab at Florida State University

The Anxiety and Behavioral Health Clinic (ABHC; https://anxietyclinic.fsu.edu/) at Florida State University (https://psy.fsu.edu/) is seeking a full-time postbaccalaureate research assistant to start in June of 2017. The ABHC is directed by Dr. Brad Schmidt.

The position is ideal for someone who is graduating or has graduated with a degree in psychology or neuroscience, has undergraduate research experience, is reliable, organized, and detail-oriented, and plans to pursue a graduate degree in clinical psychology.

Our lab focuses on anxiety and related disorders. Our lab projects typically involve clinical trials testing the effects of brief computerized interventions for anxiety risk factors. However, graduate student-led projects focus on a variety of areas, ranging from posttraumatic stress disorder, sleep disturbance, intolerance of uncertainty, traumatic brain injury, obsessive compulsive and related disorders, substance use disorders, and more.

As a research assistant, duties include day-to-day execution of lab research projects: conducting diagnostic interviews both in person and over the phone to assess potential psychopathology and eligibility, conducting neurophysiology assessments (EEG), scheduling and recruiting participants, managing databases in Excel and SPSS, building surveys using the University’s online platform, running participants (including clinical populations), and various administrative duties. Additionally, duties include assisting in managing the clinic: screening potential clients, scheduling diagnostic interviews with graduate students, and maintaining accurate records of clients' treatment. The research assistant will also assist in overseeing undergraduate students working in the lab.

Opportunities for mentorship in professional development in clinical psychology, applying to graduate school, as well as pursuing independent research projects (e.g., presenting posters at local or national conferences) or manuscript co-authorship are available.

Requirements including a bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field, GPA of at least 3.5, at least one year of experience working in a research lab, and a desire to go to graduate school for clinical psychology. This is a 1-year position with the possibility of renewal. To apply, please email the Assistant Director of the ABHC, Nicole Short (short@psy.fsu.edu) with a CV and cover letter.
