Research Positions Available at Emory

Up to 4 research assistant positions will be available starting immediately in the Translational Research in Affective Disorders Laboratory (www.treadlab.org) and the Behavioral Immunology Program (http://behavioralimmunology.com/) at Emory University. 

The positions will focus on implementation of several new NIMH-funded studies using functional and neurochemical imaging and blood analysis to identify biomarkers for major depression. 

Responsibilities will include assisting with all aspects of research  (designing/programming experiments, recruiting/running participants, processing blood samples, analyzing behavioral and neuroimaging data), grant and IRB administration. This is an excellent position for anyone seeking research experience before applying to  graduate programs in medicine, neuroscience or psychology.

Necessary skills/qualifications: 

• A bachelor's degree or higher in neuroscience, biology, computer science, psychology, math, other related field. 
• Preference will be given to candidates with any of the following: Research experience in a biology or psychology lab, strong computer programming skills (especially MATLAB and/or Python) or experience working with psychiatric patient populations. 
• Candidate should be self-motivated, independent, and reliable. Strong organizational and communication skills are also essential.
•  Prior experience in human affective, clinical or cognitive neuroscience (e.g., conducting and analyzing fMRI or MRI studies), behavioral experiment administration, IRB management, or clinical interviewing experience will all be viewed positively, but are not required. 
• The position is for a two-year commitment.
