The Department of Psychiatry at Boston Children’s
Hospital has an
opening for a full-time research assistant (RA) in Psychology. The
Biobehavioral Research Laboratory (BRL) conducts biobehavioral studies
examining the effects of maternal and child stress and trauma exposures on
young children’s risk for poor developmental outcomes. The current project
involves follow-up of a cohort of mothers recruited in pregnancy and their
children for assessments when the children are 3 and 5 years old. The
goals of this study are to test whether prenatal and postnatal stress exposures
predict child outcomes, including cellular aging, stress reactivity,
neurodevelopmental functioning, and emotional and behavioral problems.
The main RA responsibilities include scheduling and conducting home and
laboratory visits; collecting behavioral, questionnaire, and biosample (blood,
urine, hair, saliva) data; data cleaning, data entry, and other data management
activities; and administrative tasks (e.g., preparing study materials, ordering
supplies, interfacing with other study sites).
