Interested
in volunteering to work with young children this semester? There are
opportunities available at Head Start. This program provides comprehensive
child development services to economically disadvantaged children and families.
What do
IU students do at Head Start? Students work a 1 ½ hour shift per week and have
the opportunity to:
·
Work with economically
disadvantaged infants or preschool children in an educational setting.
·
Observe and interact with
normally developing or special needs children (e.g., autistic, down syndrome)
·
Network with early education
teachers and administrators at Head Start.
·
Become familiar with educational,
health, nutritional, social and other services provided to enrolled children
and their families.
·
Interact with parents and family
members of the Head Start children.
