Guidelines for Proposals

The Latino Enhancement Cooperative and La Casa of Indiana University, along with Ivy Tech Community College invite proposals for workshops to be held at the Indiana Latina/o Leadership Conference. The conference will be held February 27, 2010 at the Ivy Tech Community College campus in Valparaiso, Indiana.

The mission of the Indiana Latina/o Leadership Conference is to celebrate the uniqueness of Latina/o students in a forum by and for students. This forum seeks to cultivate the exchange of ideas, values, and beliefs in order to promote scholarship, leadership development, and empowerment of Indiana?s college and high school Latina/os.

Please include the following information in your proposal: title of session, contact person and their email, short description and name of presenter(s), and any equipment needed for presentation. Several categories which we offer to help stimulate your thoughts for a focus to your workshop or session include leadership, community, educational and cultural issues, career development, technology, and current issues. These are guidelines and not parameters.

Workshops
-Emphasis is on demonstration, audience participation as opposed to lecture and discussion.
-The conference theme should be included in your proposal.
-Engaging activities and interactive group learning opportunities are desired by the participants.
-Allow time for questions and comments from the audience.
Papers
-Submit proposals to present class term papers or research papers
-The paper should include the following: introduction;
purpose(s) or objective(s); citations/references/data sources and conclusion.
-Paper presentations can consist of more than one student sharing their work. (Multiple papers may be presented).
