Banner-ASU Neuroscience Scholars

The Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University (ASU) in partnership with Banner Research are delighted to announce that the Banner-ASU Neuroscience Scholars program application is open. The Banner-ASU Neuroscience Scholars is a paid, eight-week summer training program open to top-achieving college undergraduate and graduate science students. Scholars work full-time on a research project under the mentorship of a Banner Research or ASU-Biodesign scientist to unlock medical and scientific mysteries in the areas of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, in a lab setting in the Greater Phoenix metropolitan area.

Scholarship Opportunities:

In an effort to encourage students from the Greater Kansas City area to enter the fields of science and Alzheimer’s research, the Shultz-Christopher Memorial Scholarship was created to benefit students from the Greater Kansas City area to participate in the eight-week program in one of the Banner Research program tracks.  The scholarship provides the financial resources needed to support student(s) who might not otherwise be able to participate in the program.  Financial needs–based candidates may also have the opportunity to use funds for travel and living expenses during the internships.

The Banner Research Women Inspiring Scientific Progress (WISP) program is sponsoring scholarships for female scholars that participate in one of the Banner Research program tracks.

The Institute of Reading Development offers summer reading skills programs in partnership with the continuing education departments of more than 100 colleges and universities nationwide. Since 1970, the Institute’s teachers have helped over 3 million students master valuable reading skills and develop a lifelong love of reading.  Programs designed by the Institute give students the right skills, books, and experiences that result in greater success in school and beyond.

We are currently hiring hard-working, encouraging people with a passion for reading to teach our summer programs. As an Institute teacher you will:

• Earn up to $8,000 in one summer. Our full-time teachers typically earn $550-$700 per week.
• Improve your teaching skills and confidence during our comprehensive, paid training program.
• Gain over 400 hours of classroom teaching experience with a variety of age groups from 4-year-olds to adults.
• Help your students become successful readers with a love of great books.

We are seeking applicants from any academic discipline. All applicants must have an undergraduate degree or higher in their field before the start of our teaching season.

UC Berkeley Internship in Computational Sociology

Cincinnatti Children's Hospital Medical Center Positions for Undergrads

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) is recruiting Counselors (typically undergraduate students) and Lead (typically graduate students) Counselors for our Summer Treatment Program (STP). The STP is an award winning, evidence-based program for children ages 6-12 with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) developed by William Pelham, Ph.D. and colleagues. The STP has been listed in SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices. 

Counselors will receive extensive clinical training and approximately 250 hours of face-to-face clinical experience working with children with ADHD and related behavioral, social, and academic difficulties. Counselors are assigned to groups of 10-15 children, with 5-6 counselors per group. Counselors implement behavior modification procedures during sports, social skills training, art, and academic activities. Counselors will provide feedback to children and parents and record behavioral data for children in their groups. They also receive daily performance feedback from experienced staff members who provide live supervision.

Counselors must be available to work full days from May 21, 2020 through July 29, 2020. The beginning of employment will include a multi-day training session. Hired counselors will be responsible for reading the STP manual and memorizing some of the contents prior to beginning employment. 

Undergraduate and graduate level students interested in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, Education, Social Work, Psychiatry, or Pediatrics are encouraged to apply. Experience gained at the STP may also be beneficial in preparation for careers in education, mental health, physical education, recreational therapy, behavior analysis, social work, and counseling.

Camp Baker Psychology Trainees Wanted

Gain Clinical Hours Over the Summer

Psychology Trainees Wanted! Camp Baker is now accepting psychology trainees for a fun opportunity to gain direct service hours over the summer     Successful Summers Start Here!   Camp Baker at Judge Baker Children’s Center currently has eight graduate-level and eighteen undergraduate-level summer training positions available. Camp Baker is a therapeutic summer program based off of the Summer Treatment Program (STP) and is specifically designed for 6-12 year old children with ADHD. The STP has positive effects on the serious behavioral, social, and academic difficulties exhibited by children diagnosed with ADHD.   Camp Baker is currently accepting applications for four roles: 1) Graduate Counselor, 2) Undergraduate Counselor, 3) Classroom Teacher, and 4) Teaching Assistant. Trainees typically gain over 200 hours of experience providing treatment directly to children. Opportunities for participating in behavioral parent training groups are also available.   Trainees complete a week-long training prior to the start of treatment and receive ongoing supervision. Training begins Wednesday, July 1, 2019 with the July 4th holiday off. Camp Baker runs from Wednesday, July 8th and continues through Friday, August 14th, 2020. The stipend for graduate-level positions is $2,500, the stipend for undergraduate-level positions is $1,000, and the stipend for teachers is $5,000.     “I loved Camp Baker's staff team.
