College Exchange in Hong Kong - February 16 Deadline

The College Office of International Affairs is inviting undergraduate applications for Fall 2018 and Academic Year 2018-2019 exchange at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST).

HKUST offers a large selection of courses taught in English and provides excellent support for visiting exchange students. The College has exchange agreements with the HKUST School of Science and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, so there are many courses available that may count towards a major or other requirements in the College.  This is considered an IU exchange program, and students nominated by the College will pay their regular IU tuition and fees.

Themester 2018 internships - deadline February 15

Themester 2018:

Animal/Human – On-Campus Internship

Themester, an initiative of the College of Arts and Sciences, is pleased to announce several paid undergraduate internships available for Fall 2018’s Themester “Animal/Human.” Hours are flexible. Outreach & Event interns average six hours a week during the fall semester; Photography & Design interns average 3 hours a week.

Outreach & Event interns actively engage the theme by attending and reporting on Themester events. Other duties include promoting Themester and working with other interns on Themester events or projects.  Photography & Design interns help document and promote programs.

Previous interns report that the internship helped them engage campus on a deeper level.  Internships are open to undergraduate students with majors and minors in the College of Arts and Sciences. The College encourages applications from students with an academic interest in the 2018 theme.  First-year students are welcome to apply.  Deadline: February 15.

Service Learning Course

Spring Break for Kids, CLLC L100 Class #4729

Spring Break for Kids is a two credit service learning course offered through Collins Living Learning Center.  In this course students will learn about the effects of domestic violence, poverty, homelessness, and child abuse on children through class discussion, activities, and readings.  Students will then spend their Monday – Friday of spring break working with local children from Middle Way House The Rise (a local domestic violence program) during their science enrichment camp.  This course will include trips to the Indianapolis Zoo, Children’s Museum, Wylie House, Exotic Feline Rescue Center, Wonder Lab, and many more. It is a great opportunity to make a difference in your community while earning credit. The class meets 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/21, & 3/28 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. and Monday-Friday of Spring Break 12^th – 16^th from 9: 00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for service learning experience. 2018 Undergraduate Summer Workshop in Cognitive and Brain Sciences

2nd Annual University of Delaware Undergraduate Workshop in Cognitive and Brain Sciences

Are you an undergraduate interested in learning more about cognitive and brain sciences? If so, the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Delaware is holding its 2nd Annual Summer Workshop in Cognitive and Brain Sciences. This program, from June 4th-15th, 2018, is an intensive workshop for undergraduates who are interested in cognitive research. Participants will engage in immersive training in cognitive and brain sciences, which includes both formal coursework, interactive teaching, and hands-on experience with functional neuroimaging, non-invasive brain stimulation, cognitive neuropsychological research, and more. This program is open to permanent residents and citizens of the United States.

Thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation, travel, tuition, room and board will be provided for the entire two-week program. Furthermore, selected workshop attendees will have the opportunity to engage in cognitive neuroscience research over the entire summer at the University of Delaware. Those students will be provided with a stipend, in addition to workshop expenses.

We encourage all undergraduates with a strong interest in the cognitive and brain sciences to apply. We also encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds to apply. Applications are due March 1st. For more information, please go to https://www.psych.udel.edu/brainworkshop.
