22nd Annual IU Animal Behavior Conference - ABSTRACT DEADLINE: Feb. 25

The 22nd Annual Animal Behavior Conference will be held at Indiana University on March 26-28, 2015.
The conference will open on Thursday, March 26, at 2 PM with a symposium entitled “Every Signal Thing: Mechanisms and Evolution of Animal Communication.” This symposium will feature keynote speaker James Hare from the University of Manitoba.
The keynote speaker for the main conference on Friday, March 27, will be David Crews from the University of Texas at Austin.
This year the conference will also feature a special symposium on the mechanisms of social behavior to celebrate the life and career of IU Professor of Biology Jim Goodson. This symposium will be on Saturday, March 28. Invited speakers for this exciting day of talks include Elizabeth Adkins-Regan, Andrew Bass, Hans Hofmann, Rick Thompson, Steven Phelps, Rosemary Knapp, Alexander Ophir, Paul Forlano, David Kabelik, and Aubrey Kelly.
We welcome attendees to contribute presentation or poster abstracts, with special encouragement to undergraduate presenters.
The deadline to submit an abstract is February 25, 2015.

Additionally, the Midwest Ecology and Evolution Conference (MEEC) will be held at Indiana University the same weekend, from March 28-29. The University of Minnesota's Visiting Weekend Event for Students



The University of Minnesota will be hosting a visiting weekend for students from under-represented backgrounds who are interested in graduate study in psychology. This event is scheduled for April 8-10, 2015. This program will features a coordinated set of formal and informal experiences designed to familiarize participants with strategies for constructing successful graduate-school applications, and to provide them with the opportunity to learn more about the experience of graduate education in our department. 

Individuals who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
·         Juniors, seniors, and students who have graduated within the last two years (i.e. 2012 or after), as well as students currently enrolled in a masters-level graduate program in Psychology
·         Students who identify as a member of groups historically under-represented in graduate training including: individuals from diverse ethnic and racial background and individuals who are first-generation college or graduate students.
·         Participants who are committed to pursuing doctoral training in psychology in one of University of Minnesota’s research programs.

Please note the cost of transportation and lodging will be covered for applicants selected to participate in this program.  To apply please submit the following items:

·         Copy of the applicant’s undergraduate transcript (an unofficial copy will suffice)
·         Letter of recommendation from a faculty member familiar with the applicant
·         Copy of the applicant’s curriculum vitae or resume
·         The deadline for receipt of these materials is February 18th at 5 PM (CST).
