Research Assistants Needed: Prairie vole behavior and ecology

We are hiring undergraduate research assistants to work on a project investigating the effects of genetic and ecological factors on monogamous behavior of the prairie vole at the Indiana University Bayles Road Preserve (just north of the IU campus). Assistants will conduct live-trapping and radiotracking of voles, vegetation surveys, and data entry. Previous experience with any of these techniques is desirable. However, the primary requirements for the position(s) are an interest in behavior and/or ecology and enthusiasm for working outdoors under a range of weather conditions. Most work will take place in the early morning and afternoon/evening.

Project dates: mid July-mid September 2008. Number of hours/week are flexible, ranging from ~10-40/week, depending upon employee availability and project needs. Pay $7.00/hour. Assistants may start at full time during summer, with fewer hours scheduled once fall semester starts.

To apply: send a cover letter, resume/CV, and contact information for two references to Dr. Karen Mabry, Department of Zoology, Miami University. Email applications preferred (mabryk@muohio.edu ). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until positions are filled.
